Women's Basketball Bested at LaGrange 51-42

LAGRANGE, Ga. — The Berry College women's basketball team was topped by LaGrange College in the USA South/SAA Classic at LaGrange, 51-42 Saturday afternoon, falling to 2-2 on the year.

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead against the Vikings scoring 15 points to the Vikings 9.The Vikings flipped the script in the second quarter outscoring the Panthers 10-5, but it wasn't enough to take the lead going into the half.

Berry's Alex Weems found her groove in the paint scoring 10 points down low and 2 free throws to lead the Vikings. Berry was able to shift the momentum in their favor in the third quarter after a long three by Christine Cerezola gained the Vikings the lead. As a team, Berry shot 27.8% from the field.

Despite Berry's activity in the paint, the Panthers went on a run in the fourth quarter outscoring the Vikings 18-9, this along with a 32.6 field goal percentage allowed LaGrange to take the win.
