Byers Scores Three Goals, But BSC Hands Vikes 11-4 Loss

Berry's Bryan Byers scored three goals, but Birmingham-Southern defeated the Vikings 11-4 in a men's lacrosse game in Birmingham Wednesday.

Berry trailed 3-2 at the end of the first period, and kept the score right there until giving up a goal with just two seconds remaining in the half.  BSC would outscore Berry 3-0 in the third period to take a 7-2 advantage.

Cal Supik scored Berry's other goal.

Vikings goalkeeper Jordan Boreman finished the game with 21 saves.

Matt Ivie led BSC with six goals, while D.J. Ward scored three times.

The Panthers outshot Berry 55-19 in the game.  BSC also held a 34-17 groundball advantage and won 12 of 18 faceoffs in the contest.

The Vikings and Panthers were forced to overcome more than each other in the game; they also battled the elements.  At one point, the game was stopped for 30 minutes due to lightning.

Berry is scheduled to return to action Friday, when it plays a neutral-site game against Catholic University at Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross.
