Vikings Post High Marks at Sewanee Indoor Invite

SEWANEE, Tenn. — Berry's track & field team sent a limited group to the Sewanee Indoor Invitational today with several Vikings posting high marks.

Despite competing with a smaller group, Berry's men's team finished sixth out of 12 teams and the women earned a fourth place finish out of 12 competitors. 

Genesis Leggett led the women's standouts, winning both the shot put and weight throw. Her mark in the weight is currently ranked 10th nationally and first in the region. Denae Rivera finished second in the weight throw with a new personal record (PR). Elizabeth LaSelva, Caitlin Gillihan and Eva Proels went 2-4-5 in the women's pole vault. Kya Wiggins rounded out the women's standouts with a school record in the 55m dash. 

For the men, Roth Wilcox set a school record in the 55m hurdles. Mitchell Brice claimed first in the pole vault, while Jed Woodward, Dalton Sharpe and Jared Ogle went 2-3-5 in the men's shot put. Ogle also led with a PR in the weight throw. 

Berry returns to full strength on Feb. 8 at the team's next meet in Roanoke, Va.
