LAGRANGE, Ga. — Berry's Madison Wilder scored 20 points, but the Berry College women's basketball team fell to LaGrange College for the second time this season by a narrow 49-47 final.
With the loss, Berry falls to 3-3 while LaGrange improves to 5-1. Wilder scored her second double-double of the year, adding 10 rebounds. She also set a DIII era program record with 31 total field goals attempted. Mary Walters followed with a near double-double, scoring 10 points and nine rebounds.
The Vikings led 29-26 at the half, only turning the ball over five times. Berry turned the ball over 10 times in the second half and were unable to find any rhythm from beyond the arc, going 1-for-12 from distance. Both teams struggled shooting, as the Vikings shot 27.9% and 11.1% from three-point range. LaGrange shot just 32.0% from the field, but went 14-for-20 at the free throw line to secure the win.
Berry closes the month of November 3-3, after only going 2-4 last season. The team returns home on Tuesday to host Toccoa Falls at 5:00 p.m.
